Settlemyre Nursery sits on Drexel Rd in Valdese — a short drive from Morganton and well within the rain shadow of the Blue Ridge. Burke County’s clay-and-loam soils, four honest seasons, and mountain-moderated summers make it fine growing country, and the nursery has put that land to use.
