An independent record shop, still standing, still stocking

There aren’t many places left in Northeast Oklahoma where you can spend a Tuesday afternoon working through a stack of albums, asking questions, and walking out with something genuinely unexpected. Moovin & Groovin on Woodland Road is one of them.

A 4.9 on Google is a number, but what it points to is straightforward: the people who’ve been here come back. Bartlesville has its share of empty storefronts and closed-out Main Streets. This shop is the opposite of that.

Independent record shops exist at the intersection of local knowledge and genuine enthusiasm — both of which are in short supply online. Whatever the streaming platforms have done to music consumption, they haven’t replaced the feeling of holding a record you’ve been looking for.
